In a word, Yes

Yes, it is illegal in the UK to have a workplace with no first aid facilities.

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (1981) require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

This includes providing at least a first aid box and a person appointed to take charge of first-aid arrangements. 

Employers who fail to comply with these regulations can even be prosecuted and fined! 

Make sure you choose a first aid kit that is suitable for the size of your workplace, and the type of injuries that might happen depending on your business activities.
